- Abstract
Objective To evaluate the early adverse reactions and cosmetic effects of intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT). Methods 60 cases of breast-conserving patients admitted to the hospital from February 2014 to February 2017 were treated with IMRT and VMAT respectively. The radiotherapy program was 50 Gy for 25 times of whole breast irradiation, and then the electron beam supplemented the tumor bed with 10 Gy 5 times irradiation. Adverse reactions were evaluated using the Common Data Standard for Adverse Reactions (NCI-CTCAE 4.0). Breast beauty effect evaluation adopts Harris standard. Results There was no significant difference in the incidence of early radiotherapy-related adverse reactions between the IMRT group and the VMAT group (P >0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups before and after radiotherapy (P >0.05). Conclusion Both IMRT and VMAT techniques have good cosmetic effects, and there are few recent adverse reactions related to radiotherapy.
