- Authors
Hedeler, Wladislaw
- Abstract
The article reports on the publication of two volumes of documents on Soviet foreign policy from 1937 to 1939. The editors have selected a total of 871 documents from Russian and German archives. The publication was temporarily suspended due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The documents raise questions about the USSR's role in supporting the "Third Reich" and shed light on European diplomacy at that time. The text provides an overview of the different sections of the volume, including diplomatic relations between Germany and the Soviet Union, arrests and deportations of German citizens, as well as the impact of terror and repression on the Soviet apparatus.
