- Abstract
The article discusses the renewal of Jewish identity in Israel. The author highlights secular-religious dichotomy as the challenge facing renewal of Jewish identity in Israel. To understand the challenges, he stresses the importance of understanding the Orthodox monopoly of Judaism as the consequence of the foundations of the cultural and linguistic lexicon of modern Israel society. He marks the role played by the United Jewish Appeal-Federation in combating the challenges and its initiatives which created a measurable change in Israeli society.
