- Abstract
The aim of this study was to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to measure the digital citizen awareness of university students. Mixed method was used in the study. The participants consisted of 560 university students determined using the easily accessible sampling method. First of all, an item pool of 85 items was prepared within the scope of measurement tool development. Then, the researchers consulted expert opinions and 8 items were removed from the scale in line with expert opinions. Data were collected with the draft measurement tool consisting of the remaining 77 items. Before analyzing the data, KMO and Bartlett test results were checked and this value was calculated as 0.967. Exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory (CFA) factor analyzes were used in the analysis of the data. The results of EFA, indicated that a digital citizen awareness scale with 5 sub-dimensions, 37 items, 5-point Likert type was valid and Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of 0.935 indicated that the scale developed was reliable. The ratio of explaining the total variance of the five dimensions was 56,855%. The scale was then applied to 630 people and its CFA was performed. As a result of CFA, the X²/df ratio was calculated as 2.74 and the RMSEA value was 0.066, and it was verified.
