- Abstract
The article discusses the representation of gender in three Egyptian motion pictures, the structure of urban space in the metropolis of Cairo, and the relationship between men and women. The discussion focuses on the films "Dunia: Kiss me not on the Eyes," "In the Heliopolis Flat," and "The Yacoubian Building." The ways that the films challenge cultural, class, and social norms concerning love, marriage, gender relations, and sexuality are discussed.
