- Title
THE EFFECT OF MILDEW (ERYSIPHE GRAMINIS F.SP. AVENAE) ON SPRING OATS.

- Abstract
This article examines the impact of mildew, Erysiphe graminis DC, on spring oats. The use of isogenic lines of oats for the assessment of crop losses due to infection by mildew is discussed. In 1964, a year of severe mildew attack, it was found by this technique that grain yield was reduced. Analysis of the components of yield indicated that the disease reduced the number of panicles per unit length of drill, the number of grains per panicle, and the grain size. The results emphasize the importance of developing both winter and spring, mildew-resistant, varieties.
