The article focuses on the significance of word "quean" in early modern English, which had complex implications due to its pun on the word "queen." It further discusses that the phonetic merger of the two words and discusses how this homonym served as a tool for misogyny; reflected the parallels between monarchs and prostitutes in terms of performance and constructed identities; extensive use of derogatory terms for women; and the interplay between the concepts of queenship and prostitution.
