Maternal Death.
- Abstract
This article presents information about a study of the chief causes of maternal deaths in developing countries by the World Health Organization. Most of the studied deaths were caused by hemorrhage and hypertension. Deaths from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean were analyzed. The researchers concluded that magnesium sulfate is needed to treat seizures associated with high blood pressure and specific efforts are needed to prevent hemorrhage.
