- Abstract
The article examines the differences in review quality and recommendation for publishing between author- and editor-suggested reviewers. The observational study focused on biomedical research papers sent to ten journals, using the Review Quality Instrument to analyze outcome. The study found that author-suggested reviewers made more recommendations for publishing the manuscripts; however, the quality of reviews was the same between author- and editor-suggested reviewers. Editors are reminded that they should question author-suggested reviewers' opinions concerning publication.
