- Title
The Legal Origins Theory in Crisis.
- Authors
Fairfax, Lisa M.
- Abstract
The article discusses the predictive value of the legal origins theory in the context of how America responded to the economic crisis. The legal origins theory was conceptualized by four authors including Rafael La Porta, Andrei Shleifer and Robert Vishny (LLSV) who believed that a country's legal origin shapes its legal rules and regulations. It concludes that legal origins is relevant in the U.S. as it explains the limitations of its problem-solving strategies and predicts the temporary nature of its civil-law oriented solutions.
