- Title
Blowdown: When a tornado tears through a beloved landscape, is it possible to just let nature heal itself?
- Authors
Dean, Tamara
- Abstract
The author discusses the damage caused by 27 tornadoes that ravaged Wisconsin on a single day in 2005 and, particularly, how one of the tornadoes damaged the author's own property. The extent of the damage to the trees on the property is described as are the economic aspects of the damage and how the author and her partner decided what should be done about the decaying trees that were torn up. Finding a logger to remove the damaged trees and the process of removing them once the ground had frozen, when the conditions are best, is discussed. The author also talks about her personal connection to the property.
