- Abstract
The article discusses the history of a banyan tree which once stood in 'Āinahau, the home of the Hawaiian royal family, and belonged to Princess Victoria Ka'iulani. Particular focus is given to banyan trees which are descendants of the original tree or are thought to be so. Details on efforts by the Daughters of Hawai'i and the Outdoor Circle to preserve the trees and the lands surrounding them are presented. Other topics include author Robert Louis Stevenson, Ka'iulani Elementary School and Honolulu Community College.
