- Authors
Moses, Richard E.; Jones, D. Scott
- Abstract
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA, or Obamacare) requires quality measures and reporting and pays for quality performance through a combination of incentive payments and downward adjustments to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (FS). This article follows up on our previous article on this topic, with details of a new proposed rule from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which makes specific changes to earlier rules and the quality reporting process from 2014-2017. This article gives compliance officers direction on the new quality issues they must address in order to avoid decreased FS payments beginning in 2014.1 This article also provides information to those wishing to comment to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on the proposed rule.
