- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 15-month-old intact male, mixed breed dog with progressive cough and weakness. Physical examination showed that the dog was dyspneic and had a distended abdomen. Cytologic diagnosis revealed that the dog had a spirocera lupi infection. It concluded that cytologic identification of spirocera lupi eggs in fine-needle aspirates of esophageal nodules can aid in the verification of clinically suspected spirocerocosis.
