- Abstract
The article examines the study of French-Canadian theater from Québec from a national perspective and questions the national model of these theater studies from a transnational angle. It presents a comparative analysis of Québec and the French-speaking Caribbean theater, specifically from Martinique and Guadeloupe. An historical overview of the common past of these former French colonies is given. Topics include national and cultural identity, sovereignty, and the question of violence.
