Presents the author's comments on an article by Christopher S. Koper and Jeffrey A. Roth which evaluates the 1994 federal assault weapon ban in the U.S., contained in this issue of the "Journal of Quantitative Criminology." Assessment of the impact of the ban on gun violence outcomes; Criticism of the evaluation by Koper and Roth; Consideration of their results as misleading findings; Discussion on empirical evidences denying the rationality of the ban in reducing gun homicides; Estimated number of handguns in the civilian stock; Information about the percentage of gun criminals; Data regarding gun production and importation in 1995 in the U.S.; Analysis of the potential impact of increasing prices of guns on gun violence; Lack of macro-level data to measure most crime-relevant variables at regular intervals between census years.
