- Abstract
The article presents research done to reconfigure monastic life at the Monastery of the Ascension in Idaho in order to preserve the community. Statistics related to monastic life are presented, including the number of monks and monasteries in the 21st century. The history of the Benedictine monastic tradition and the Rule of Benedict are discussed, as well as new monasticism. The article discuss how monastic communities could expand, including the topics of building design, financing, legalities, and monks and covenant.
