- Abstract
An essay is presented which suggests that various forms of affection for motion pictures, known as cinephilia, may have an unifying goal. The author discusses film critic André Bazin's view of motion picture production as a mythic way of representing the world and comments on the importance of motion picture viewing to aspects of cinephilia. She notes how technological innovations such as videotape, DVDs and the Internet have changed film viewing.
