- Title
A New CHALCEDONY Treatment.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a new chalcedony treatment distinguished by distinctive network of white lines of varying degrees of prominence. Two strands of treated chalcedony were obtained for testing by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Laboratory in Carlsbad, California. Based on magnification, fractures in a pattern typical of that caused by quench crackling was followed by the white lines. According to the author, the treated chalcedony is being referred several times to fire agate, but the beads examined are not similar to fire agate.
