- Abstract
The article offers poetry criticism of the poem "The Prisoner of Chillon" by George Gordon Bryon. According to the author, the poem shows the growth and creativity of the speaker and his triumph over difficult and unchangeable circumstances. It is suggested that the speaker is able to redefine his situation and turn his physical imprisonment into mental freedom. Topics discussed include irony, the reader's perception of the speaker, and knowledge.
