- Title
Interfaith Coalition Seeks Stewardship of Louisiana Coastal Wetlands.
- Abstract
The article reports that an interfaith coalition that ranges from the fundamentalist evangelical Church of Christ to the liberal, works-oriented United Church of Christ is seeking to influence a legislation that would lead to the stewardship of Louisiana's coastal wetlands. While this effort has been underway for some time, the churches and their partners have initiated a new effort called the Ezekiel 34 Initiative. The initiative provides four moral guidelines for legislative debate; important points to be included in any water policy legislation; suggestions for religious congregations interested in creating local stewardship commissions and a call for religious congregation, acting prophetically, to call upon the Governor and Legislature to enact water policy legislation based on the principles of stewardship.
