This article provides information on Thomas Tallis and his compline hymn "Te Lucis Ante Terminum." Tallis served as organist at the Benedictine Priory in 1532 and organist and singer at the Augustinian abbey of Waltham in 1540. He started serving the crown as Gentleman of the chapel Royal from 1543. He composed two settings of "Te Lucis Ante Terminum," which are the Festal and the Ferial. A musical notation of the hymn is presented.
