- Title
THE BIG QUESTION.
- Abstract
The article presents opinions and forecasting by a panel of international relations scholars and environmental activists on the role of water-supply in world politics. There is a consensus among the group that population growth, pollution, global warming, and the fact that most countries do not have guaranteed access to a stable water-supply indicate that conflicts over water-supply will increase in the 21st century. Australia is cited as an example of a country which has had to make significant internal policy changes to cope with the effects of drought on its water-supply. There is also agreement among the panel that international cooperation is the only realistic means of coping with water-supply problems.
