- Abstract
This essay reflects on the demise of Communism in Russia as well as its impact on every Communist life. The paradox of Yugoslav Communism which was born not of a revolution but as a Communist project after World War II is explored. A background of the freeing of the Croatian state from Yugoslav Communist repression is discussed. The essay also examines the dilemma being faced by Croatia in relation to its plan to join the European Union. The reasons for the impossibility of returning home to Croatia are also discussed.
