Abstract
The article discusses the 2013 discovery of new species of legless lizards in California, and discusses the lizards' evolution, habitat, and eating habits. Biologists Theodore Papenfuss and James Parham, the California legless lizard or Annielle pulchra, and the discovery of the species in vacant lots and in the Mojave Desert are discussed, as well as biodiversity in California.
