- Abstract
The author discusses the elements of an instrumental classroom centered on the Kodaly method. Topics covered include the use of vocal warm-up exercises, alternating between singing and playing instruments, and students' application of their knowledge to determine a piece's rhythm. Also mentioned are the development of an auditory relationship between the voice and instrument-playing and the encoding and decoding of notation to help students become musically literate.
