- Authors
Kellner, Douglas
- Abstract
The article discusses the study that examines the centrality of broadcast media imagery and spectacle in the 2004 U.S. Presidential Elections. It also aims to highlight the need for media literacy in analyzing and deconstructing the construction of the election spectacle. In the view of the significant role of visual imagery and spectacle in contemporary U.S. politics, cultivating and teaching visual and multiple media literacies is imperative to sustain critical resistance to media manipulation and to make it possible for individuals to function as rational and informed citizens.
