- Abstract
The article discusses the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry's (AAPD's) guideline on the use of antibiotic prophylaxis for dental patients that are at risk for bacteremia-related infections, and it mentions dental decision making and the risks factors associated with infective endocarditis (IE). Postoperative infections are addressed, along with Staphylococcus aureus, drug resistant organisms, and American Heart Association protocols for preventing IE.
