- Authors
Furukawa, Hiroko
- Abstract
The article analyzes how the Japanese male translator Oura Akio interprets the language of the feminist character in Margaret Atwood's "The Edible Woman. " It discusses the problem with the women's language used in the Japanese translation of the novel. It examines the effect of the language of the feminist character from a reader-response theory and a relevance theory point of view, considering that she appears contradictorily obedient to the male-dominated idea because of her language use.
