Hepatitis C drugs not reaching poor.
- Authors
Callaway, Ewen
- Abstract
The article focuses on the unavailability of the first treatment guidelines for hepatitis C virus (HCV) and new anti-viral drugs like sofosbuvir and simeprevir that can cure most viral infections due to their high costs. It also presents views of Stefan Wiktor, head of the global hepatitis programme at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland. It informs that generic-drugs manufacturers in low and middle income countries are showing that they could produce the drugs cheaply.
