- Title
Super-Earths give theorists a super headache.
- Authors
Hand, Eric
- Abstract
The article focuses on the emergence of super-Earths as a new category of planet detected by the Kepler space telescope of the U.S. National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA). It says that the super-Earths have very low densities which show that they might have small rocky cores enclosed by large gas envelopes. According to planet-formation modeler Douglas Lin, super-Earths pose a challenge to the conventional models of planetary formation.
