- Abstract
Today, cryosurgery is a surgical modality essential in the armamentarium of the dermatologist who desires the greatest freedom of choice in treating patients. It is the treatment of choice for many lesions, such as dermatofibroma, sebaceous hyperplasia, actinic keratosis, lentigo, leukoplakia and superficial basal cell carcinoma and a valuable alternate method of therapy for other lesions as diverse as verrucae, acne pits, seborrheic keratoses, leishmaniasis and angiomata. Although a few dermatologists have used cryosurgery since the turn of the century, its current popularity has been established during the past two decades.
