- Abstract
Pictures have a wide range of information, and the most important characteristic of pictures is colors, where colors have great importance by which gray images can be colored in order to obtain greater qualities for distinguishing pictures. The presence of old historical images in their gray colors was the motive for doing this research for the purpose of coloring them. Three algorithms were used to color digital images, which are the methods of brightness, medium, and lightness. A color digital image was approved to be used as a color palette to color the grayscale image. This was done by taking the color from the color image after replacing it with a grayscale, and matching the pixel locations with the locations of the grayscale image. The approximate color is placed in the grayscale image if it matches, otherwise control points (C1, C2) for the purpose of utilization. It was concluded that the luminosity method is better than the average and luminance methods based on the MSE and PSNR measures, and the Visual Basic language was used to complete this research.
