- Abstract
The article describes basic methods for analyzing and evaluating the causes of noise occurring in permanent magnet permanent magnet motors with a rotor in which the magnets have been placed inside the rotor (PMSM IPM). An analysis of the acoustic noise of a 240 kW motor with 60 stator slots and a number of pole pairs of 2p=10 designed for bus and truck drives is presented. The computational effect of the housing on the overall noise of the motor is presented. The natural frequencies of the motor stator and the forces acting in the air gap were calculated . Based on these data, the sound power level (A-SWL) was calculated over the entire range of motor speeds both with and without the housing, and it was shown how the housing affects motor noise. It was determined what is the primary cause of noise of traction motors operating in wide speed ranges.
