- Abstract
The article analyzes several television biographical films (biopics) focused on the marriage and lives of Princess Diana and Prince Charles of Great Britain including "Charles and Diana: A Royal Love Story," "The Royal Romance of Charles and Diana," and "Unhappily Ever After/A Palace Divided" broadcast in the 1980s and 1990s. It looks at how the first biopics of the couple use the structure of fairy tales while later films used television soap opera tropes to depict their failed marriage.
