- Title
Reflections on an Archaic Period Shell Mound in Middle Tennessee.
- Authors
Cooper, Steven R.
- Abstract
The article describes an Archaic period shell mound in middle Tennessee. It attributes the appeal of the place along the shoreline of the Cumberland River to Late-Middle Archaic peoples to the high bluffs across the river. The size of the mound was reduced due to water erosion after the construction of the Cheatham Lock and Dam from 1949 to 1951. It mentions the discovery of Benton arrow points and a cache of blades at the site.
