- Title
The Dangerous Sisters of Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
- Authors
Kalmanofsky, Amy
- Abstract
The author of the article examines biblical texts portraying Israel and Judah as sisters married to God and argues that such a portrayal of their interpersonal relationship and sexual desire introduces patriarchal anxieties that lay the groundwork for the biblical prophets' message of horror in order to persuade their audience to reform using fear. The author analyzes the use of sisters in Victorian literature and draws comparisons to the Hebrew Bible, particularly using family as a main theme.
