- Abstract
The article presents a comparison of the depiction of love as related in the Old Testament book of Song of Solomon with ancient Egyptian love songs, dating from 13th to the 11th century B.C.E. Topics addressed include the formal structures of both Egyptian love songs and in the Song of Solomon, various characteristics of their modes of presentation, and the use of imagery shared by both genres.
