- Title
Vicente Huidobro y el cine: la escritura frente a las luces y sombras de la madernidad.
- Authors
de los Ríos, Valeria
- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between Huidobro and film based on his little known cinematic chronicles. In them, the author demonstrates his fascination with and knowledge of the new medium, which reveals an avant-garde interest in the new, and at the same time makes clear a certain "anxiety about contamination" that is expressed in his preference for silent film and the defense of a pure cinema. These intellectual preferences contrast with the extensive cinematographic techniques Huidobro made use of in his writing, primarily in "Cagliostro." For Huidobro, film is a new technology and experience, that is connected to modernity through war, magic and the market.
