- Abstract
Federico García Lorca is one of the most well-known Spanish poets in Albania. This fame is attributed to different factors, such as his artistic personality, the neo-folk nature of some of his poems, the symbolic and surrealism elements which he included in his literary creations, the combination of traditional and modern elements, the themes chosen to be portrayed, the secondary characters, the world-wide fame/attention his poems acquired, as well as his republican beliefs and his tragic death in the first few days of the Spanish Civil War. Lorca is considered a symbol of the Spanish poetry of the XX century in our country. This study aims to bring him in an Albanian context and analyze his reception from the Albanian critics throughout time, while also presenting an overview of the translated poems in Albanian and the poetic journey of his creations with the basic characteristics, accompanied by translated poems and their individual analysis. Emphasis is put on the identification of the books and newspapers where these poems were published in, the meeting with the first translator, Petro Marko, and the contribution of other key Albanian translators in the area of translation.
