- Abstract
The article discusses the history of the House of Commons Library in London, England. It was established in 1818 to provide an informational archive useful for British Members of Parliament (MPs). The original library was in the Palace of Westminster which burnt in 1834, part of the collection saved when staff threw books out of windows. Its current location was designed by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin in the Gothic style overlooking the Thames River and opened in 1852.
