The article discusses the role of NUDX23 in promoting carotenoid biosynthesis in plants. Carotenoids are important pigments in plants that have various functions. The study found that NUDX23 interacts with and stabilizes the PSY-GGPPS complex, which is involved in carotenoid production. The researchers discovered that NUDX23 influences carotenogenesis post-translationally and enhances the accumulation of carotenoids and related proteins. This study provides insights into the regulation of carotenoid biosynthesis and offers a potential target for enhancing carotenoid production in crops.
