- Abstract
The article highlights the idea that medieval pro-globalization has a polycentric nature. Travels in this age are not tied to a single center. Their starting points are both in Europe, China and the Arab world. Conventional globalization is seen as a worldwide expansion of Western civilization, through which Western European values, institutions and technologies become dominant in the rest of the world. The analysis of forms of medieval pro-tourism, however, opens another, non-Eurocentric perspective of the background of globalization.
