- Abstract
The coordination properties of the scorpionate ligand 2-PyCH[P(O)Ph2]2 were studied using complexation with neodymium nitrate as an example. The molecular structure of the [Nd{(2-PyCH[P(O)Ph2]2}(NO3)3(H2O)] complex was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The structures of the ligand and the complex were studied in the solid state and in solutions by vibrational and multinuclear (1H, 13C, 31P) NMR spectroscopy. The tridentate O,O,N-coordination of the ligand found in the crystal is retained in solution.
