- Title
"Palimony": The Impact of Marvin v. Marvin.
- Authors
Myricks, Noel
- Abstract
"Palimony' is a term created by the media. It was used to refer to the alimony-like award given to Michelle Marvin to help her for rehabilitation purposes. Its purpose was to provide her the economic means to re-educate herself and to learn employable skills or refurbish those used in her most recent employment. The case and survey methods were used to analyze the Marvin decisions and other cases involving unmarried cohabiting couples. The prevalence of nonmarital relationships in modern society and their social acceptance indicate a change in the mores of society with implications for family practitioners.
