- Abstract
The article focuses on the plants and animals that was introduced in the Galápagos Islands. It states that on three of the four inhabited islands in Galápagos, guava or Psidium guajava has grown out of control and covers vast areas of the humid highlands. About 1934, rat native specie Rattus was introduced onto the island, but between 1935 and 1945, the endemic rat has completely disappeared. The giant land tortoise, Geochelone elephantopus, is the best known of all the animals of the Galápagos and the one whom the group is named. Several species of birds that was introduced in Galápagos include the American flamingo or Phoenicopter rubber and dark-rumped petrel of Pterodroma phaepygia.
