- Abstract
This article focuses on the views of several alumni of Baylor University's Business School regarding their careers in professional sports. According to Jason Weaver, account executive for the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, there is a large time commitment during the season. Depending on the type of sport, a person can work anywhere from 60 to 90 hours per week. On the other hand, Clive Russell, director for Major League Baseball, considered the unsociable hours spent by people involved in the sports industry as affecting their balance in life. There are also perks in having a career in the sports industry. For John Dillon, vice president of marketing for the Houston Rockets and Comets, getting to talk about sports all day is a main draw. But more than that, Dillon said that within the sports industry, they have the ability to connect with the public.
