- Abstract
The authors discuss the role of the journal in exploring the social work profession's many dimensions. They state that a journal should reveal the ambiguities and conflict in relationships between social work, the state, politics and civil society. They inform that the British Journal of Social Work publishes papers that help in understanding how social work research can be enhanced through innovative methodologies and new theoretical ideas. An introduction to the issue is also provided.
