The article discusses the oratorio "Ende und Anfang," composed by Gerhard Kaufmann and examines its relationship to German humanitarian, preacher, and anti-war activist Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer's literary influence on the libretto of the oratorio is analyzed, the 2006 premier performance of the piece in Tübingen, Germany is described, and spiritual aspects of the oratorio are discussed.
