- Title
Advanced Microanalysis Methods Solve Automotive Paint Adhesion Failures.
- Abstract
The article looks at research in which analytical microscopy was used to identify foreign contamination and paint deficiencies which can cause paint adhesion failures on polymer-based automotive parts. The article examines the use of polarized light microscopes (PLMs), the Nomarski differential interference contrast (NDIC), and fluorescence microscopes (FM). Causes of failure included insufficient primer penetration, thermoplastic olefin (TPO) formation, and films of organic material.
